First and last picture you'll se of my current DD, it's now retired. No worries, I won't scrap it, I'll just remove its plates. Perhaps one day it'll be a track toy...

How many miles, what are you replacing it with?
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:42 |

What happened?

Make that day. . .
today.

not that many miles really... 100k or something, replacing it with a 1997 Opel Vectra Estate.
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:48 |

Is that even an upgrade, or a side-grade?
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:48 |

Basicly EVERY bit of suspension needs replacing... not just coils and stuff.. but everything..
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:49 |

I'll take it iceracing some time this winter, perhaps I'll try and get som photos then ;)

That's some deep shit.

Live your rally dreams my friend! Live them!
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:52 |

Oh man, sorry to hear that!
But I thought that wasn't that big of a deal in those cars :( I mean, most people modify the shit out of those Civics anyway!
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:52 |

it's an upgrade if we're talking about how big the car is... downgrade on all other parts :P But a 97 Opel Vectra Estate costs about 1000 bucks... fixing the Civic is twice that..
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:54 |

Yeah, But I've got several other cars as well, and I'm unemployed right now :P
It's not that big of a deal to replace the parts, its just that it costs more money than I can afford right now :)

Wait, you are retiring a Honda with only 100k miles? It's just now getting warmed up!
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:57 |

It'll cost me about 3000 US Dollars to fix everything wrong with it.. so yeah :P I got it for about 1/3 of what I SHOULD have paid for it six years ago :P
![]() 11/20/2013 at 21:59 |

$3000 is cheaper than a new car and cheaper than most decent used cars. I say fix it man....unless you're just bored with it.

Yeah,, well... I live in Norway.. a semi decent street legal car will cost you at least 5000 USD if you don't know how to wrench..... The Vectra I'll be replacing it with is decent, just need some work (the engine need some tuning), and it'll cost me about 1200 USD..

Ah, gotcha!
Glad you have another car handy!
And good luck on your job search :)

Ahh, I get it. i lived in Alaska for a while, so I know what kind of cold you are facing. It does have a way of taking a toll on a car, especially smaller ones.

Thanks mate :) I hope that I some day can show you guys all the insane cars I've got stashed away here and there..
But amongst them is this little beauty (not my car, but mine looks the same):
This one (only mine is two tone blue):
and I've got one like this:

Cold? It's never really cold here, perhaps minus 35 celsius sometimes :) But yeah, it tends to do bad things with the cars..
![]() 11/20/2013 at 22:26 |

WOW you have an awesome collection!
![]() 11/20/2013 at 22:27 |

I think I've got 9 or 10 cars in total.. I should perhaps sell them and buy a nice DD :P But you know...
![]() 11/20/2013 at 22:29 |

I remember constant paranoia over the control arm bushings etc.
![]() 11/20/2013 at 22:31 |
|
WOW that's a lot of cars! I'd do the same thing if I could afford to though haha
![]() 11/20/2013 at 22:35 |
|
Yeah, that and the battery... the battery does NOT like low temperatures I'll tell you..
And I remember one time when I delivered fish for a living, it was -41 celsius outside.. I actually fried the cable from the battery to the starter engine in my truck :P No happy mercedes indeed :P
![]() 11/20/2013 at 22:37 |

It's more like I've never got rid of stuff.. I've had my license for 14 years I think, and I've probably owned 40 cars since then..
![]() 11/20/2013 at 22:46 |

I'm assuming that you guys also have the battery and oil pan heaters, right? God help you if you forget to plug in overnight!
![]() 11/20/2013 at 22:51 |
|
never had any of those if I'm honest :P it's usually never colder than -25 celsius here...
![]() 11/20/2013 at 23:20 |

The do make life a little easier in the cold. If they sell them there, I would say get one.
![]() 11/20/2013 at 23:24 |

They do sell them here, I've just never bought one.. Never got that far.
